Pictures at an Exhibition

About:

Conductor Ari Pelto leads the Philharmonic & Opera in a performance of instrumental colors, opening with Florence Price’s The Oak, a tone poem of rich and sonorous textures from a composer who helped define America’s voice in classical music. The lightness of Fauré comes through his Masques et Bergamasques, a piece of cheeky, light-hearted entertainment, and one of his best known works, the enchanting Pavane. Mussorgsky’s most famous piano composition Pictures at an Exhibition becomes a showpiece for orchestra at the pen of Ravel.
